2011 VMAs ---I wish I missed it!!!!

Well, I have to be thankful I did not waste the entire evening watching this crap, but I still watched some of it;  and if this is what music award shows are coming to, it will be the last.  There was so much advertising for the VMAs I thought maybe it would be worth it.  I was so horribly wrong.  And here is why these awards were shit:

1. Lady Ga Ga dressed as a man.  Well her music is one thing(very talented) however at the best of times she looks "ok" for a woman.  I mean there has been rumors she was a transgender anyway.  She makes a very fake and plastic man as well as overacting.  I mean really, how many times do you need to grab your crotch and purposely curse on live television.

2. Oh, I don't know why they let Kanye West out without a leash.  Not only in 2009 did he hijack country cutie Taylor Swift's spotlight, he is just so blatently needing attention he will do just about anything.  His performance with Jay-z was odd to say the least, akward choreography and horrible sound.  Here was someone else intend on grabbing his crotch, and perhaps he should wear clothing that actually fits.  There is always a time and place for his kind of antics and a awards show is not one of them.  The show seemed to be a hip-hop party in the front row thanks to Kanye jumping up and down, cursing and being his usual self......he needs an UNINVITE next year..

3.  The there is Nikki Minaj. OMG. It looks like she stole her outfit from a cross between rainbow brite, the easter bunny, and someone obviously doing some bad acid.  Her hair looked like an ice cream cone, and dress looked like those craft kits kids sew together.  And what is with the mask? Did you forget breath mints or gum?  Then she wins a VMA basically cos she was dressed like a whore and grinding her huge ass.  How is that a great video?  What about Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott?  How is Nikki Minaj the best hip hop female artist? 

 4.  Then there was little Wayne....ok you can't sing, or rap, and maybe you should buy your clothes next time in the men's section and not the tween girls section of sears.  Enough said.

5.  Chris Brown is the most boring entertainer ever-even with dancers flying through the air.  He chose to lip sync, not a wise choice because he sucks at it, and his dancing is less to be desired. It was a horrible performance, and that is giving it a compliment. 

6.  Most people having a child with the one they love, announce it to friends and family first and perhaps keep it low key.  I personally am disgusted when women announce pregnancy on Facebook, but Beyonce decides to announce on more then a social media site, lets tell the world literally.  I just think it was in very poor taste, and for a lady like Beyonce, it was totally out of her character.  Not to mention, she has an amazing stage presence and voice, I just did not think the song she sang showcased her talents.

7.  Poor Katy Perry, I really had to wonder why she would collaborate with Kanye, however the much better artist is Perry and it did pay off for her. But she has to share the award with the asshole.  And usually Katy looks and dressed great, not on this occasion.  The yellow box on her head looked ridiculous, and the pink hair looked like she was a big stick of cotton candy.  Like her natural locks better.

8.  Then there was the weird side stage with Jessie J.  She is a great new artist and why would the producers have her singing her top forty remixes, I would have liked to her more of her music.

9.  I was trying to figure out the stage through the whole ordeal and finally I knew what was going on.  It looked like a big vagina with lights, bright colors, and tonnes of rappers coming out of the opening.  Next time don't ask Nikki Minaj if you can model a stage after one of her body parts...

10.  And finally the video vangaurd award goes to Brittany Spears. WTF..... are you serious? Are they actually putting her in the same category as previous winners such as The Rolling Stones, Peter Gabriel, U2, The Beatles, Guns and Roses, and Madonna?  She is a pop princess creation with videos showing her tits and ass whenever possible with the same bubblegum pop bullshit.  What about artists like Eminem, Joss stone, Neil young, or even Kiss or Queen?  This was a lame ass move by the producers and MTV, they did this for increased viewer ratings.  She is so undeserving of this award, this was a disgrace. 

There was one moment when it was a awards show with live music; Brian May of Queen takes the stage. Although he had to share it with the fake he-she, he is an iconic rocker, the sound was great, he looked great,  even with grey locks.

Basically don't watch the rerun of the VMAs, it is totally not worth it.  You will be upset you lost 3 hours of your life.  It would be time better spent sleeping.

CONGRATS LIBYA-YOU WILL SOON BE A DEMOCRATIC NATION !

     For the past seven months, maybe a little longer, protesters and revoltutionaries in the Middle East and African Nations have be attempting and in some cases succeeding in overthrowing totalitarian and socialist leaders.  The people of those nations want democracy-or at least that is what the United States and the press want you to believe.  Just for shits and giggles I am going out on a limb here to state that these people may want a voice in their government, perhaps a change , but not necessarily democracy.  They want jobs, a stable economy,a safe place for their children, a productive life, they want peace, not a war zone.

     In September of 1969, a coup d'etat happened against King Idris; the Libyan Revolution and Moammar Gaddafi have been in power.  Maybe now 42 years later, Libyans want change.  What does this mean for this oil and petroleum rich country?  Well it means the United States will intervene at some time in the future for the sake of  "protecting" the nations' wealth(OIL); the United States will have a hand is assisting with the balance of power and maybe even in government duties.

    Does anyone remember Panama?  How well did democratization work there?  In the beginning the people below the poverty line suffered the most;  displaced by burned out and bombed out homes, economically destitute as over 10000 people lost employment.  Democracy has been a slow and painful process.  One has to wonder why the United States would need democracy in Panama, it would not have anything to do with the Canal Treaties?  And then there is Afghanistan.  Well let's just say that the pipeline had to be built-enough said.

    So it is a democratic government for Libya.  I have to wonder which oil rich nation will need the democratic asssistance of the United States next.  It seems that democracy is working very well for the USA.  The economy is booming, unemployment rates continue to fall, the citizens have a world class health care and educational system, and the majority of the demographic are middle class hard working families.   Politicians are fair and the voice of the voting majority.   After reading that, give yourself a good swift kick in the ass and wake the hell up!  I was being facetious.

I can't wait to see what happens.

Not With My Hard Earned Money

     Lately when I see my paycheque I wonder where is all the tax money going?  And will a threat of a poor economy affect my money? Well I figure it will if we(taxpayers) continue to let our governments do nothing to help out the working middle class in our country.  I keep hoping that our government will come out with more tax cuts for working families, but sadly that never happens and I guess to get any help from our goverment we need to be much worse off.  But what exactly is worse off anyway? 
     When I see someone on the street(especially in a small town) that I know is on assistance(yeah welfare)texting on a blackberry, buying alcohol, gambling, or driving a relatively newer car, what the fuck....goes through my head.  Personally, I think it is a sick joke on every taxpayer in our country.  Not too long ago food, clothing and shelter were necessities, not blackberrys, ps3, alcohol, and new vehicles.  Does social services even care anymore what our tax money is spent on?  Our government agencies need to make stricter rules and regulations when it comes to handing our FREE MONEY.
     Perhaps they should have a Work for Your Paycheck program(I know it sounds strange, but hell the rest of us do it).  Just think of it.  Someone would go into Social Service and apply for assistance due to not having any employment.  Then as if it were a miracle, we have work for you!  As long as you work 8 hours a day, you will be able to pick up your paycheck every two weeks, how does that sound?  Sounds like a job to me....but as I suspect, most wanting a free ride would find some minimum wage job instead then quit once unemployment would kick in.
    Do not get me wrong there is a legitimate need for assistance and then there are those who willingly take advantage.  Those young able-bodied adults(our future) sitting on their fat lazy asses playing ps3 or xbox until all hours of the night and then sleeping until 3pm.  Those same people who drive new cars, but have assistance pay their rent, hydro and food because they cannot afford it on their income.  And don't forget all those people with blackberrys that don't work-seriously why would you even need it?  To schedual a meeting for you and your loser friends to play ps3 all night, or to meet at the post office every two weeks to pick up your (free)cheque.
   Sadly that behavior seems to be rewarded by government agencies and hurts the people who need and rely on assistance for survival.  YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES!!!!! Maybe you should actually work a day in your life.  And by the way, looking after your own children is not a job it is called being a parent.  I personally hope that every single one of you scamming on government money gets caught and losses your f---ing blackberry, your video games, your house, and your car, and know what it is like to live paycheck to paycheck--if you can even find a job.  I take every tax break I can every year on my taxes--the less money for you lazy, cheating, liars to have.  And just remember easy street does not last that long.

All in the Name of Religion?

For the past several days I have been wanting to post something about the terror attacks in Norway, but I have had to really ponder if I should. Being a selfproclaimed aethist, I have no idea why someone would carry out the murders of children in the name of religion and basically an ethnic or political cleasing.  I have the belief that if someone wants to believe in some supreme being, that's ok, I just do not believe it.  I guess it comes down to how a person is raised by their parents and society as a whole.  I thank my parents for having tolerance and giving me that gift to see people for who they are as a person and not what religious denomination they are affiliated with, or for that matter, I really do not care what nationality you are, or what political views you have, you have a right to have them.
I am now thinking that the murderer in Norway, Anders Behring Breivik, is not insane.  He carried out is plan with terrifing precision without any help.  It was premeditated plain and simple, and came from pure hatred of other people.  There are some many thousands of things that could have triggered him to think differently from the rest of society, but is it insanity or is it just how our society has influenced him?  Or is it fear of the unknown and fear of what may happen?  Far too many people have died in the name of religion, politics and ethnic cleasing over the centuries, I would hope as a civilized culture this kind of waste of life would cease to exist and maybe we could work together as a culture and solve bigger problems like deseases, or climate change.

Well, we are obviously not there yet and have a long way to go!  I think most of our dislike or in extreme cases hatred of other cultures is fear.  Fear that our lives will change for the worse, that we will have to learn about something we don't understand.  Even when I was younger, I felt sorry for members of the KKK, especially the children dressed in those outfits, being taught to hate other races.  Why?  Basically they were taught the hatred from elders before them that were taught it too.  It just seemed to me to be a vicious cycle of ignorance and hatred.  The murderer in Norway chose to hate, chose to fear others.  And he chose to blame it on religion and politics, and now wants the authorities to believe he is insane.  Just because he is "wired wrong" does not mean he is insane.  He carried out his plan with precision, he wrote about his hatred, he planned his disguise and transportation, and in one report it was said he wondered why the authorities did not apprehend him sooner.  Well he obviously knew he was doing wrong.  We all make choices every day that effects our lives either positively or negatively.  And although I am an aethist,  Anders Behring Breivik I personally hope you will burn in hell for all eternity, sane or not.  My heart goes out to any family members of the 76 young people that perished on Utoya Island in Norway.  Your children deserved a long, healthy life, with loving families and a bright future: may they rest in peace, and may they get the justice they deserve.

The price of conflict....

Ever notice that when we have a natural disaster, or America goes to war,(I mean America freeing the oppressed to give them a new democratic government) all the rest of the world pays the high price of gas and the price of oil goes over $100 per barrel?  Well over the weekend the price of oil dropped over $9.00 a barrel and still no movement in our gas prices. WHY?

The refineries can now make a profit.  For many years the news and media have told us that that commodity is market driven. Perhaps it is , but why when the cost of crude goes down our gas prices don't follow.  They sure shoot up when oil rises.  For one reason and one reason only--profits.  Remember people, some of those oil and gas refineries have crown corporation money behind them. Basically we are taking it up the hoop....

No Social Media Please, I'm already in a Relationship....

I am positive that only a handful of people I know are NOT on a social networking site like Facebook.  This type of technology is a wonderful invention as long as it is kept at arms length and used for the right purpose.  I am NOT SAYING DELETE FACEBOOK, just try to remember the people in your life and how important they are to you.  Some of them deserve more than a quick chat or a post.  There will come a time when you(we all) realize it is time to get off the computer and back to the "real world".  These warning signs just may help:

1.  There are too many requests from your ex's weirdo family that want to keep in touch eventhough it has been over 15 years...
2.  People post rude comments and pictures on your wall...
3.  You recieve pokes from your ex's and their friends...
4.  There are weird quizes about certain people you never want to think about that way...
5.  Your "friend" posted embarassing pictures of you....and gave out way too much info
6.  Your creepy ex stalks you on facebook and twitter wherever you go...
7.  You recieve chat requests from people you never really wanted to talk to, you just accepted the friend request to get rid of them.
8.  You are constantly checking your newsfeed or posting every 15 minutes, even at work.
9.  You actually care what happens in "farmville"....
10.  You forget birthdays unless 'Facebook" reminds you..

Basically these sites seem to be set up for singles and people who genuinely are NOT sincere, I mean how much thought does it take to send someone a birthday card---you know by mail?  It is user beware folks.  I am sure many an arguement has happened due to a post, chat , or email from an ex causing problems. Your best defense: An Ex is An Ex so keep it that way!  Setting limits, trusting your signifigant other, managing your "friends" list can help, but make time for the real people in your life that are closest to you in the real world, not farmville.....

Killarneys' Teen Birth Rate

    For some strange reason, our area is plagued with teen pregnancy; just walk down the street on any day and you will see teen mothers with one or two small children, some as young as 15.  Teen pregnancy in this day and age is now the acceptable norm, a decade ago it was still seen as "not a good" thing, girls would give up the children to families wanting to adopt, even earlier than that, young pregnant teens went to live with their "aunt" for a year or two.  After all teen pregnancy is contagious isn't it???  Babies having babies just adds to our current economic problems.  I am not sure if these girls realize just how difficult it will be to raise children on a fixed income.
      Many have dropped out of high school and do not even have a grade 9 education.  It seems to be a very sad and sorry statement not only about our morals in todays society, but on our lack of focus on education and programs for our youth.  These young girls and their children are going to be in the social services system for many years; putting an increased strain on our taxpaying pocketbooks.  Even more stressing to me is that we are creating a generation of young people with lack of responsibilities, uneducated, unskilled and poorly equipped parents.  Unfortunately most of these children will grow up in a single parent home with a breakdown of family values and benefits, needed by every child.
      I am troubled by the lack of options these young girls think they have.  It seems that adoption is not the option anymore and more of these barely teen moms are choosing to keep their babies.  I personally know at least 10 couples waiting to adopt.  In the short term it sounds great-teens taking responsibility for their actions, but down the road will it be the right choice?  The cost of having children has skyrocketed.  Would these young teens be able to provide adequate housing for their child?  Other basic needs?  Cost of any sports once the child is old enough?  What if the child was special needs?  Would they be able to save money for the child's college?  All these questions go thru my head when I see a mother that young.  What will our society be like in 15 years?  Will the children still be in the social services system?  Will their children be having chilren too?  I hope not...
     I would hope that some, even a fraction of these young teens realize the consequences and either abstain or practice safe sex with birth control.  It seems that option has been left by the wayside as well.  But it would be hard to learn about the best options for your future when you are sitting at home, pregnant at 14 instead of being in school and getting your education.  Basically our children are growing up too fast.  Blame it on social media, absence of proper role models, lack of education, lack of parental supervision , but that is another post......
